🌳Nature:
Camillus MedHaven is a nursing home or facility located in the Philippines that caters the needs of the elderly, as well as people with disabilities, particularly among children. The facility was formerly named St. Camillus Home of Charity when it was founded in the year 1992. However, on February 26, 2006, it was transfigured into a place that accommodates senior citizens with paid services.

🏡Setting:
Camillus MedHaven is a nursing home or facility based in the Philippines. One of its branches is located in 29 Apitong Street, Marikina City, thus, the facility is accessible to other surrounding cities and communities like Cainta, Antipolo, Taytay, Angono, and Montalban. The facility itself is environment-friendly, peaceful, and serene that makes it homely and comfortable for the elderly and the children with disabilities to stay independently. In addition to this, Camillus MedHaven provides a place that is filled with trustworthy assistance from their workers inside the facility, as well as a great choice of setting to lodge in tranquility.







 🙌Methods:
Camillus Medhaven provides different methods or procedures while accommodating the important necessities of their clients. According to their website, Camillus MedHaven offers a “resident-oriented, long-term full-time care; rehabilitative therapies; and adult daycare services to seniors who need post-hospital or post-operative medical attention, whose families are not equipped to give the attention they require”. In accordance to this, Camillus MedHaven imparts or delivers programs that suffice and fulfills the needs of its clients through therapy sessions, medical consultations, rehabilitation programs and forums, counseling, professional healthcare, and to name a few. With the help of their loyal and devoted employees inside the nursing home such as private caregivers, ward attendants, nurses, and social workers, the facility can guarantee reliable and well founded services towards its clients.

In Camillus MedHaven, employees who are working in the said facility such as social workers have various roles to hold and apply for the good development and growth of their clients and for the overall reputation of the nursing home as well. First is being an enabler. The role of an enabler is to help people to acquire solutions and answers to their problems. This role is more focused on individuals and families. Second is being a facilitator which is a role that provides assistance for professional and organizational development. This role is mainly focused on groups or organizations. Third is the role of a planner that coordinates or manages outreach programs for the education and literacy of the community within their surroundings. This role is more focused in the community itself. Lastly, the role of being a colleague and monitor. The goal of this role is to improve socialization and the professional adoption of culture-based behavioral patterns of individuals. It focuses on the social work profession or to individuals who are practicing the methods of social work.

💻Competencies
The employees or workers who are serving inside the Camillus MedHaven Nursing Home showcased different competencies that contributes to the stable regulation and management of the facility. Some of these competencies include the following:

ü Execute empowering processes- Performing or conducting empowerment to individuals and families for their growth and development.

ü Perform crisis intervention- Offering short term methods that help individuals who have experienced or is currently suffering rom difficulties or risks.

ü Good computer literacy- Possessing computer or technological skills to improve professional background as well as to connect to other funding networks.

ü Use practical methods- Maximizing the use of pragmatic techniques as one of the expertise of being a social worker.

ü Link client systems with needed resources- Establishing connections within the resources needed by the clients.

ü Communicate effectively- Ability to communicate effectively to be aware of the community’s needs and to be the voice for the people who can not voice out their requests to the authorities.

ü Think critically- Thinking critically is essential for being an efficient planner to successfully conduct outreach programs without any complications. If any problems may have the chance to occur, a social worker must critically think of solutions fast that can improve the situation right after.

ü Build and sustain relationships- Establish relationships and handle them without violating the code of ethics against building human relationships.

ü Do social planning- Build and contribute plans or ideas for the community to utilize in times of casualties.

ü Analyze policies- Analyzing policies when conducting research or building plans for the community to avoid misinterpretations.

ü Strong cultural and intercultural competence- Skill or capability to initiate strong expertise within cultural and intercultural contexts.

ü Conduct research- Knowledgeable on making or conducting research to uphold professionalism and sophistication in the field of social work.

Concrete Examples
The roles and competencies of a competent, skillful, and productive social worker were observed in the staff of Camillus MedHaven. An example of this is how the caregivers and social workers in Camillus MedHaven aids the needs of the elderly by helping them through giving them guidance, advices, talking about their problems and provide solutions to it to support their needs. Some of the elderly people who are residing in the facility have dilemmas with their families and finds the facility as an answer to their problems but at the same time, providing them empowerment. Another one is how the workers and the staffs in the facility develop their skills and professionalism to produce connection to other funding networks to sponsor and support the funding and needs of the facility for the benefit of Camillus MedHaven as a group and as an organization. Furthermore, experiences such as the social workers, nurses, caregivers, and the staffs in Camillus MedHaven who agreed to pursue the outreach program coordinated by the Grade 12- St. Ehrentrudis HUMSS students helped in planning and organizing the event were also exhibited. Unfortunately, during this event, a talk that was supposed to be delivered by a social worker was cancelled so the staff of Camillus MedHaven substituted the talk to a brief introduction about the facility or nursing home. In return, everyone participated and enjoyed the outreach program and learned a lot of things from the elders inside the facility. On the other hand, everyone who are residing in Camillus MedHaven are treated equally despite their diverse cultures and social class variations. Some can afford services in Camillus Medhaven and some do not, however, they are all treated equally and fairly. Inside the facility, there are also policies and regulations to follow for the overall professionalism and solidarity of the facility, and other workers and staffs that serves in the nursing home are conducting observations and researches on how to improve the facility in order to aid or cater the needs of the seniors or the elderly as well as the abilities of the relationship between workers or colleagues.
